Okay, so I haven't found the perfect chair yet, but shopping last week did give me a lot of great options and helped me realize a few things.
- First, slipper chairs are IN - they are absolutely everywhere. They are available at a variety of price points, but more importantly they come in a lot of great graphic prints.
- That being said, I learned that ARMchairs = more $$$. By comparison, the armchairs cost nearly double what the slipper chairs cost.
- Third, I love bold prints! I used to lean more toward the traditional prints, but I found that I loved the chairs that were more along the lines of my Anthropologie inspiration.
- Lastly, chair on not, I think I found the mecca of discount stores in Birmingham! HomeGoods, Ross, Big Lots!, Tuesday Morning, and Stein Mart all in one complex - not to mention a few fabric and crafts stores. This will definitely be my go-to shopping spot to find great deals for decorating.
As for the chairs, here are some great options I found:
Until a co-worker recommended this place I had never heard of a furniture consignment store. Check in your area to see if one exists. All of the chairs I found here were around $375.00.
Ross
There were not a lot of options for quality furniture here, but their prices were competitive for similar items. This chair was around $90.00.
HomeGoods
I found the best selection here. These ranged from $200-$400. You would never know because of the great style, but these first two were even recliners!
I wasn't a big fan of the leather options. With discount stores it is harder to fake a good leather piece than it is to pull off a great upholstered look.
These were in my price range! Too bad they were also three feet tall and in the kids section.
If only the budget was closer to $400 - this would make a great Anthro-inspired knock-off.
Here are a few more I found online:
The first option caught my eye in their weekly ad because it's only $169.99 (pretty close to budget!).
I continue to be impressed with the selection of designer looks that Target offers (both in clothes and home goods). With stores like this, be sure to check their online inventory for a wider selection of options.
$299.99
$179.00
I also checked out Tuesday Morning, Stein Mart, Big Lots, and Edgewood Antiques. I didn't find a lot of chair options with those stores, but I did find some other great accessories I'll share later. Also on my list to scope out: Atlanta junk stores, Salvation Army, and Mazer Furniture.
So readers, what are your thoughts on the chairs I've found so far?? Do I stretch the budget for a great chair, possibly without arms, or hold out for the perfect chair?
ha! i had about five favorites. did you end up picking one??
